The Tomah Health board of directors has new members. Todd Torkelson of Tomah was elected to a three-year term while Jennifer Drexler was elected to a two-year term during the organization’s annual meeting Jan. 16.
The owner of Torkelson Funeral Homes said he is looking forward to helping with decisions brought to the board and interacting with other board members and hospital staff. “Through my work, I have a unique opportunity to talk with many people every week about their life experiences, including their care, or family members care at Tomah Health. I look forward to sharing helpful ideas from these conversations with the board of directors,” said Torkelson, who replaces hospital board member Keith Laugen who wrapped up his term on the board.
Gundersen Health System Emergency Medicine provider Jennifer Drexler, D.O. was elected to replace Gundersen Health System obstetrician/Gynecologist Robert Holness, M.D., whose term ended. Drexler will join current board member and Mayo Health System Family Medicine provider Tiffany Casper, D.O. Both Drexler and Casper will serve on the board as medical staff representatives.
Other members of the ten-person board include Greg Gaarder, B. Scott Nicol, Sue Playter-Mubarak, Deb Buswell, Diana Gerke, Beth Arity and Wes Revels.

The board also elected officers during the annual meeting. Gaarder was re-elected board chair, former board secretary B. Scott Nicol was elected vice chair, replacing Laugen. Playter-Mubarak was elected board secretary replacing Nicol and Buswell was reelected treasurer.
In 2008, members of the former hospital corporation amended the organization’s Articles of Incorporation to allow for a self-perpetuating board, which relies on a nominating committee of board members and community leaders to nominate the new candidates.
