Tomah Health staff have donated 121 pounds of cereal to Tomah’s Neighbor for Neighbor Food Pantry.

Tomah Health marketing & public relations director Eric Prise said hospital staff could donate a box of cereal for a chance to win tickets to the Charlie Berens concert at the LaCrosse Center Nov. 2. “We are extremely proud of our staff who stepped forward to help out the local food pantry,” said Prise.

“Cereal is one thing that we like to have on hand here at the pantry because people can use that for anytime and we are very low on that item right now,” said Dawn Pleuss, Tomah Neighbor for Neighbor Food Pantry operations director.

Pleuss said they seen record numbers of families seeking food donations. “We are super busy. Last month we had 635 families compared to between three and four hundred a month. It’s the most we’ve ever served since I’ve been here.”

Pleuss also invited the public to take part in the pantry’s Harvest Challenge now through December 15th which raises funds to help with either the purchase of food or operational expenses. “The harvest event we do is very important because we kind of depend on that money to keep us going,” said Pleuss.

The Pantry is located at 1118 West Veterans Street in Tomah.
