Blood Drive to Save 201 Lives

Tomah Health and Versiti BloodCenter of Wisconsin officials are praising the support from area residents who donated blood during a two-day drive held at Tomah’s Recreation Park Oct. 4 – 5. Versiti officials said 70 donors took part in the two-day drive, which collected blood products that will save 201 lives.  “Without donors like those that gave this week, local hospitals couldn’t provide the quality care that they do to our community,” said Versiti Blood Center account representative Emalea Cogdill. Versiti is the sole supplier of blood to nearly 50 hospitals in Wisconsin including Tomah Health.

“With seasons of giving ahead, we ask donors to give once more this year and provide another family with time, healing, and hope by donating blood.  Blood is perishable, it is precious, and it can’t be manufactured,” said Cogdill.

Area residents can donate during Versiti / Tomah Health’s last blood drive of the year scheduled Dec 13 & 14.

“If you haven’t given blood or it has been some time since your last donation, the next few months are critical to the blood supply,” added Cogdill. “Schedule an appointment to give in December and join the Tomah community in saving lives.”
